Customising Contact Fields

Alejandra Vasquez Mendez

From our editor, you can customise your mailouts using any of the fields in your database. This includes both standard and custom fields.

You can add custom fields in the following sections:

  1. Subject
  2. Preheader
  3. Sender Name
  4. Recipient Name
  5. Design
  6. Within the content of the newsletter

There are 2 ways to add a custom field:

  • Pressing the “Customise” button in step 2 of configuration:
  1. Pressing the “Contact Fields” button when working on the newsletter content

Drag & Drop Editor

HTML (WYSIWYG) Editor

Clicking this button will display all available fields (both the predefined Standard Fields and those created in Custom Fields (https://mdtr.io/p0T0T)), while choosing one of the options will insert the selected field into the creative and each contact will receive what that field contains in its list (in our example: name).

2. You can also customise by writing the placeholders directly.

Placeholders must be enclosed within square brackets ([ ]).

Below are the placeholders for the standard fields:

[Name] [Lastname1] [Lastname2] [Lastnames] [Title] [Gender] [GenderSuffix] [Mobile] [Email] [Reference] [City] [Province] [Country] [Postcode]

For Custom Fields (https://mdtr.io/p0T0T), you need to specify the assigned name between the brackets, for example: [company].

Other placeholders you can add:

[CREATIVE_ALTERNATIVE_URL] --> link to “view via web”

[SPAM_LINK] --> link to indicate whether the email is wanted or considered spam

[PREUNSUBSCRIBE_LINK] --> unsubscribe link with confirmation page

[UNSUBSCRIBE_LINK] --> direct unsubscribe link, no confirmation page
