When editing an email template in MDirector’s enhanced editor —whether from the creation of a send or the My Templates section in the Email Marketing or Transactional Email modules— it is important to keep in mind that there are two versions of the template: the desktop version and the mobile version.
By default, when opening a template in the enhanced editor, the desktop view will be displayed. To switch to the mobile version, simply select any element of the design and choose the Mobile tab in the left sidebar.
You can also do it from the quick action bar located at the bottom right, with the desktop and mobile icons.
The best approach is to start designing in the desktop view. If the design is not too complex, most of what is done in the desktop view will be accurately transferred to the mobile version, requiring only minor adjustments.
However, there may be cases where certain elements should only appear in one of the views. To handle this, the enhanced editor allows you to hide elements in one version while keeping them visible in the other.
To access this function, select the element (or block, if you want to hide an entire block) in the view where you want to hide it. Then, in the left sidebar, you will find the option Hide in Desktop Version / Hide in Mobile. When activated, the element will appear translucent in the template to indicate its presence, but it will not be visible in the recipient’s inbox.
It is recommended to use the preview mode to check the final result without the hidden elements.
This feature is also useful when the same element needs to be present in both versions but with significant differences. In such cases, you can duplicate the block, adjust it for each view, and hide it in the version where it does not apply.
Note:
On tablets, the mobile version will be displayed.
