In MDirector, we offer a feature to add new contacts to the platform by simply copying and pasting email addresses or mobile phone numbers.
To do this, please note that you must first create a contact list or access the "General" list. If you haven't done this yet and don't know how, visit this article: https://mdtr.io/BTsGg.
1. Go to the "Contact lists" option in the dropdown menu of the Email/SMS Marketing service located on the left-hand side of the screen
2. Within the list where we want to import them —visible in the second left-hand side panel specific to this section— open the "Add contacts" dropdown and select "Copy and paste" there
3. A window will open, where we can copy and paste the email addresses or phone numbers. It is important to separate them with commas and not mix numbers with emails. Once copied, click the yellow "Analyze" button
4. If we have done it correctly, the contacts will be displayed in a table, with the first row showing the type of data we are providing
By default, this row will show "EMAIL," but if it contains phone numbers, we will need to open the dropdown and select "MOBILE."
Selecting any other data from the dropdown besides "EMAIL" or "MOBILE" will result in an error, as having at least one of these two is required to create a new contact.
Taking all of this into account, we click the yellow "Continue" button.
5. MDirector will provide you with a final result of the analysis it has conducted on the contacts you are about to add to the list
Here, it will break down several details:
- The total number of rows in the table it created with the pasted addresses or numbers.
- The number of contacts MDirector has identified as duplicates, because the email or phone number already existed in the list.
- The number of records that will be successfully imported.
- The number of new contacts that will be successfully imported.
- The number of already existing contacts in the list that will undergo some modification.
- The number of addresses MDirector has identified as incorrect due to a format issue, e.g., if an email field contains a value without "@".
- The number of addresses that have already caused errors in previous sends.
- The number of addresses MDirector has identified as unsubscribed, meaning they cannot receive emails because the subscription was canceled.
