To implement Double Opt-in using MDirector’s Marketing Automation tool, we need to follow four steps.
1. Creating lists
Two lists will be required
- The first one will include contacts entering via API* and will store them before registration confirmation
- The second list will be automatically filled with contacts who have confirmed their registration
*It is also important to perform a contact search via API before inserting them. This ensures that if the contact is already registered, a message is displayed informing them, and the subscription process is not completed.
2. Creating a redirect landing page
This page consists only of a thank-you message and can be created on the client’s website or by using MDirector’s Landing Optimizer service.
3. Creating email templates
Two templates need to be created:
- The first includes a button linking to the previously created landing page
- The second contains only information and a thank-you message
Both should remain in "Draft" status.
These are examples of the two emails:
4. Creating Marketing Automation flows
We also need to create two Marketing Automation flows in MDirector.
The first flow is triggered when a contact is added to the first list. Then, the confirmation email is sent.
Depending on their behavior, the contact will either proceed to the second flow or receive the confirmation email again if they haven’t opened it within X days.
The second flow is triggered when a contact clicks on the link in the first email, meaning they accept the registration.
Then, the second email is sent, the contact is added to the second list, and optionally removed from the first.
This way, our second list will only contain contacts who have confirmed their subscription.
