The button displayed below —and only available in the New Enhanced Editor— is linked to the WhatsApp messaging application and has a dual functionality:
1. Share content: it allows the end user who receives the email to share the content. This works by triggering an action on the mobile phone; when the button is pressed, it takes the user to the WhatsApp application screen where they can select which contact(s) to send the content to. Once they make this selection and approve the message, the content will be shared in the chat without the user having to copy or type it.
What is shared is a text, meaning it can include links. The MDirector client creating the email should associate a message, a link, or both in this box (Example: 'Hi! I'm sharing this content that may interest you: www.mdirector.com'):
2. Start a conversation with a contact: it allows the end user to directly contact someone from the staff, such as a salesperson or a support worker. In this case, what is shared is a phone number to initiate a conversation. However, similar to the first case, the mobile phone automatically performs this action for the user. When the button is pressed, it immediately opens a conversation with the phone number entered in the following box:
This function allows a combination with the first through this other box.
As shown in the image, it is optional to fill it. This means that if it is filled, the button will not only take the user to the chat with the contact but will also send the configured message here. However, if not filled, it will only take the user to the chat for them to decide what they want to write.
Note:
The platform provides a choice between a series of predefined WhatsApp images to serve as a button or banner, but it is also possible to upload a custom one.
For these built-in images, MDirector gives you the option to choose from various sizes, but it is still possible, as in the rest of the editor, to resize them to a more specific size. However, keep in mind that compressing the image will result in a loss of quality. Therefore, it is recommended to first select the nearest default size and then resize it from there. Nevertheless, the most optimal option if you intend to have an image of a very specific size is to create it externally with those dimensions and upload it to the editor.
Both functions are also available for PC, as the button has the capability to trigger both actions—three if you count the combination of both—via WhatsApp Web. However, like other editor functions, the button configuration can only be done in the Desktop tab. In other words, even if you want to configure it only for mobile, it must be done from the Desktop and hidden there.
