We have two types of tags in MDirector: campaign tags and contact tags.
Campaign tags
You can add them in the first step when creating an email delivery --> Step 1 ‘Configuration’ and they are used to tag an specific campaign.
The features for the campaign tags are the following ones:
1. Finding campaigns from the browser in the 'Campaigns' panel.
2. If you want to apply filters to segments like user's activity and filter contacts that opened or clicked on a tagged campaign.
Contact tags
They are used to segment contact lists and you can add them in different ways:
1. Through an action in Marketing Automation.
2. Taggining links from an email delivery. The tag of each tagged link will be added to every user that clicks on it. This can be done from the ‘Link’ tab of step 3 ‘Design’, so you can track those contacts and segment your list based on their interests.
3. Adding tags to the contact manually. Go to ‘Contacts’ and the list where that contact is. Then click on the email address and edit it by filling up the tag field.
4. API. Tags are added by API using the service with the mdTags parameter.
5. Using cookies.
Once the tag has been added, it can be used to create segmentation filters in the contact lists using a tag filter.
