Migrate templates from the old editor to the new one

Ivan Nieto

To preserve and be able to use previously created designs and take advantage of the features of the new editor, the option to migrate templates has been enabled. It's important to know that template migration is done by converting the template to an HTML format. Therefore, before performing the migration, we recommend making a copy or not saving the template if you don't like the migration result in order to preserve the old design.

Steps to migrate a template:

  1. Access the previously saved template from the "Create Campaign," "Templates," or "Transactional" section (The "Templates" and "Transactional" sections are only available in PRO or TOTAL plans).

    • Create Campaign:

    • Templates:
  1.
    • Transactional:

  1. Click on the "NEW EDITOR" button, confirming that you want to migrate the template by clicking the "UPDATE" button:

The template will now be migrated to the new editor as an HTML block. You can edit the content of the block on the left tab:

You can revert the template to the old HTML editor of MDirector by clicking "HTML EDITOR":

Remember that once the template has been migrated from the old Drag and Drop editor to the new one, it can only be migrated back to the HTML editor.

Possible ways to use this functionality:

  • If you have HTML knowledge, you can edit the block to modify the template and add more complex elements that are not available in the editor.

  • Reuse parts of another template by migrating the template, deleting the elements you won't use, and adding new Drag and Drop elements.

  • If you don't have HTML knowledge and want to reuse a template as it appears in the block, you can send it again with the new editor to improve visibility on some email servers.
